Summary

The Port Moody Public Safety Building was completed in 2006 for community resources such as disaster relief and police and ambulance services, and is appropriately placed in a visible and accessible location in the centre of Port Moody. The building is highly energy efficient, employing geothermal HVAC with full electric stand-by generation.  Indoor considerations include the purchase of office furniture made from 100% recycled, low-emission materials, and extensive daylighting for each workspace. The building is close to Slaughter House Creek, a salmonid-bearing stream, efforts were made to reduce impacts to this waterway, including a 15m vegetated buffer along the riparian zone.
