Summary

The [[northeast coquitlam area plan]] and the GVRD’s Livable Region Strategic Plan have identified that the Hyde Creek Watershed will likely undergo significant development over the next 15 years.

The Hyde Creek Integrated Watershed Management Plan provides a plan for the protection of the watershed’s sensitive environment given this anticipated growth. Recommendations in the IWMP include: utilizing stormwater best management practices such as biofiltration swales, permeable paving and pervious landscaping; maximizing the infiltration of rainfall by disconnecting roof leads; and routing runoff from roads and parking areas to biofiltration swales and adjacent green spaces.
