Summary

The Greater Vancouver Regional District has successfully completed the reconstruction of the Little Mountain Reservoir, which has the strength to withstand major earthquakes, without sacrificing the tranquility and beauty of a park area.

The Little Mountain Reservoir was originally built in 1911 and remains a crucial link in the region’s drinking water supply.

Due to seismic and structural deficiencies in the reservoir structure, it was decided to rebuild it in a way that would address environmental, social, and economic issues in a balanced manner. The planning of this project included a public consultation process in 2003.
